The reason why we love this recipe, is simple- its a simple recipe. But, its a proven family favourite time and time again. This meatloaf is moist, full of flavour, and sure to become a staple meal in your household.
The lowdown on the ground
All of the beef we offer is dry aged for a minimum of 21-28 days, including the ground. The result is ground beef that is bursting with flavour. The quality dry aging process also removes around 40% of the water. Meaning, you won't end up with a frying pan full of water while cooking the ground beef.
Chop, crack, Mix
Add in the goods to take this meatloaf from ordinary to extraordinary.
Add the following ingredients into 1lb of ground beef and mush together
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs
- 2 tbsp of ketchup
- 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- 3 Russian red garlic cloves (chopped)
- 1/2 cup of yellow onion (diced)
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/4 tsp of black pepper
- 1/4 tsp of chili flakes
- 3/4 tsp of salt
Pat the meatloaf mixture down into an even layer in the pan.
For the topping:
- 1/4 cup of ketchup
- 2 tbsp of brown sugar
- 1 tbsp of red wine vinegar
Mix the topping ingredients together and layer over the meatloaf mixture.
The Waiting Game
Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven- uncovered, and bake for 55 minutes.
The key is to let the meatloaf rest for a good 10 minutes after you've pulled it out of the oven before serving it.
After letting the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes, slice, serve and dig in!
